She is funny, flawed, and very intelligent - perfect for a cozy heroine. She has the special gift of an eidetic memory. The second book in the series takes place in British Columbia during a gourmet event that has Cait eating delicious food at a different venue for every meal. If you know this character, you know you - and she - are in for a good time. This sequel to the first Cait Morgan story was a let-down: Cait and Bud have a strangely awkward relationship which distracts from the mystery they're set on resolving. While the premise for the suicide versus murder plot was sound, its execution was clumsy and too frequently derailed by some unrealistic scenes with adults acting like children. In many places the Okanagan wine-growing setting in British Columbia plus foodism interfered with smooth development of the author's theme. Some of the expectations for the interesting capabilities of the main protagonists were set in Book 1 but seemed lost in this story. The long-winded speech delivered by Cait at the end was a poor device for providing backstory and how she was clever in unravelling the mystery. The writing felt rushed and too much detail was undeveloped to be engaging. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica

The second book in the Cait Morgan Mysteries brings overindulgent foodie and criminologist Cait Morgan to the vineyards of British Columbia's Okanagan Valley. A world-famous vintner is dead. And when a heartfelt plea to look into the matter is paired with an exclusive gourmet event in BC's stunning wine country, Cait Morgan cannot resist. She is sure the owner of the family-run vineyard was murdered. But her companion, Bud Anderson, is convinced that the woman took her own life. That is, until death strikes once again. Uncovering obsessions and murderous thoughts among the victim's wacky neighbours is a start. But, as Cait unravels the clues, she realizes that more lives are at stake. Can she think, and act, fast enough to prevent another death? Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |

The "Nose" in question is that of an incredible wine connoisseur. The silver is a clue that would be a spoiler.
Any older woman who is comfortable in her own skin will totally appreciate Cait Morgan!
Bud Anderson (whose wife was recently murdered by mistake) is a mutual "Plus One" with Cait (forensic psychologist), and he is invited by his online "grief buddy" to come to the winery/inn for a fantastic foodie event and brings Cait with him. And to prove that the buddy's sister was murdered, not death by suicide. Imaginative twists and red herrings are great, but come for the mystery and stay for the laughs!
I always feel that you can't go wrong with the author as narrator because only they know how to do the snarks effectively. ( )
