Anthony Hetheridge, ninth baron of Wellegrave and chief superintendent for Scotland Yard, will marry Kate Wakefield in three weeks. It's inevitable--the invitations are out, the flowers are ordered, the cake is chosen. But murder waits for no man, and no wedding. In London's prestigious West End, a disgraced CEO has been murdered at Hotel Nonpareil, an exclusive destination. No one, it seems, liked Michael Martin Hughes. Not his estranged wife, Thora, or his defiant son, Griffin. Not Hotel Nonpareil's manager, its head of security, or perhaps even the two most important women in Hughes's life: his future bride, Arianna, or his secret girlfriend, Riley. And before Hughes died, he incurred the wrath of none other than Sir Duncan Godington, longtime nemesis of both CS Hetheridge and DS Paul Bhar. Hetheridge, Kate, and Bhar find themselves under tremendous pressure to uncover the killer as fast as possible. Have Scotland Yard and Downing Street lost confidence in Hetheridge? Find out as you return to the world of Ice Blue and Blue Murder in Something Blue, the third in the New York Times bestselling Lord & Lady Hetheridge mystery series. Chief Superintendent (Baron) Hetheridge, his fiancée DS Kate Wakefield, and DS Paul Bhar are off on another bizarre homicide case and even the evil Duke Duncan Godington, (longtime psychopathic nemesis) shows up. The case is convoluted, and the team shows off their good sleuthing (especially as opposed to lazy braggart DI Jackson). All the while the background is about the wedding (Kate just wants to elope), Kate's self-absorbed sister and mother (brother and his caregiver live with Kate, as does her bright but suffering young nephew), Hetheridge's closet skeletons, and Bhar's personal life. This series is a whole lot of fun and laughs that make a mockery of reality. Love it!
I really appreciate the talents of voice actor Matthew Lloyd Davies to help me with easy differentiation of characters in the audio, and he always underplays the scenes! ( )

SOMETHING BLUE by Emma Jameson is the 3rd Lord and Lady Hetheridge Mystery Series title.
Lord Hetheridge and DS Kate Wakefield are to be married in 3 weeks, but the team (including DS Depal Bhar) must first solve the murder of big oil CEO Michael Martin Hughes, at a posh gala held at the exclusive Hotel Nonpareil.
The hotel seems a bit ‘dodgy’ to me, as do some of its main employees. The plot is good, but is a bit rushed - I don’t feel a lot of edgy, breakthrough moments. The main characters are quirky and cute, but unrealistic. Some of my favorite scenes are with Henry (Kate’s nephew) and Ritchie, her disabled older brother.
I am hoping for a bit more depth in the future. But a good, light read, nonetheless. **** ( )

I am getting tired of Sir Duncan the super-villain. I don't like (at all) the fact that Paul is dating Emmeline and Kyla. The police work here was incompetent and the ending disappointing. I hope the next in the series picks up again, because I was loving them until this one. ( )

Still interesting characters in strange circumstances, her family is remorselessly quirky.
The author goes back to the well too often for her arch-villain. A good train, plane or beach read. ( )

Anthony Hetheridge, ninth baron of Wellgrave and Chief Superintendent of Scotland Yard and Detective Kate Wakefield are getting ready to marry in three weeks. In the meantime they, along with Detective Deepal (Paul) Bhar, have been called to the Hotel Nonpareil where CEO Michael Martin Hughes has been murdered. There are plenty of suspects including his son, soon to be ex-wife, current girlfriend, former girlfriend and numerous climate activists. And guess who was staying at the hotel.......Sir Duncan Godington, the team's nemesis.

I've read the first two books in the series and found them to be extremely light reads that are great to take on a plane or while waiting at your doctor's office. On the plus side, the characters, especially Paul and some of the other secondary characters, add a lot of humor to the mix. It's a pleasant read, but not really compelling in any way. Nevertheless I'm going to read the final book of the series to see if they can finally arrest Sir Duncan and tie up any other loose ends.
