I've been listening to these books as I drive to work and have been enjoying them. Dora Saint (Miss Read) has a wonderful sense of humor and her depictions of village people are so good. This book had more conflict than the first two and the story spread over years in contrast to the previous two. "Thrush Green" was about a 24 hour period and "Village Diary" recounted one year. This book started out 4 years after the death of Queen Victoria and jumped suddenly 10 years ahead. That was a bit odd but I enjoyed it. (
