Deep in the Caribbean Sea, a nuclear submarine is forced to suddenly abort its mission under mysterious circumstances. Strange facts begin to emerge that lead naval investigator, John Clay, to a small group of marine biologists who are quietly on the verge of making history. With the help of a powerful computer system, Alison Shaw and her team are preparing to translate the first two-way conversation with the planet's second smartest species. Surprisingly fun story

I loved the beginning, almost gave up due to many twists in the middle and was quite glad I kept going to the end. ( )

I read this based upon an ad for the book that appeared on my Kindle. It certainly was entertaining, as I think it was blurbed about it is a cross between Crichton and Clancy in some respects. ( )

2 Stars

I am bored to tears. I was expecting an exciting read. What I got was a whole lot of words about nothing.
Somehow even the action parts have been made boring.
It is more like some kind of movie script with lots of info on every room, wire, view, etc. With little actually happening.
I can't take it any more.
I have quit reading at page 128 (38% done).
Very Disappointing.

The mystery and the different threads in the book were great and I did enjoy the characters. BUT there was a shoe-horned romance (!!), a few convenient, unexplained miracles, and a few confusing abuses of power too many for this to stay at 3 stars. The beginning starts out strong, but that ending was too much to swallow. ( )

I really enjoyed this one, and hope to continue the series. Researchers create a data base and translation program to understand Dolphins. Meanwhile, the Navy loses a submersible and asks the researchers for help. What the dolphins discover is otherworldly. ( )
