Many of the best episodes were produced in the First Season, and these are among the strongest and most memorable episodes. "Charlie X" was written by D.C. Fontana, the story editor, who wrote some of the best episodes. "Balance of Terror" is one of my favorite episodes for the "duel" played by their ships between Kirk and the Romulan Commander and marks the first time on the series we see the Romulans. So both are well-worth viewing. ( )
