"In Son of No One, next in the blockbuster The Dark-Hunters series by Sherrilyn Kenyon, it's not easy being life's own personal joke, but Josette Landry has made an unstable peace with the beast. Completely down on her luck, Josette takes a job with a local paranormal group as a photographer and camerawoman. Yeah, they're even crazier than she is. The only paranormal thing she believes in is the miracle that keeps her rusted out hoopty running. But when something truly evil is released into the world, they are forced to call in reinforcement. From the moment Josette meets Cadegan, she knows something about him isn't quite right. Mysterious and armed with lethal sarcasm, he seems a lot older than his age. Centuries ago, Cadegan was viciously betrayed into an immortal prison by the only person he'd ever trusted. Forced against his will to do good, he hates everything in life. All he wants is a way out. But for the damned there is only eternal suffering. And yet there is something about Josette that intrigues him. Something he can't seem to fight and the last time he felt this way about a woman, it cost him everything. He knows he has to stay away from her, but the unleashed demon is hellbent on consuming her soul. If one more innocent is taken, he will be sent back to an unimaginable prison that makes his current hell look like paradise. But how can he keep her safe when his being with her is the greatest threat of all?"--… (mais)

Conclusion seemed really rushed. The excerpt from the next League novel was more fleshed out. ( )

Cadegan has been banished by his brother to a shadow realm, when Josette stumbles into the realm he races to save her. Both have been betrayed he by his brother, she by her now ex-husband but they find trust in each other. She keeps him from becoming the destruction of all. Very nice to see Acheron, Styx and others come together to help Cadegan and we learn the new battles the Dark Hunters will be fighting in future.

Disappointed. Not as gripping as some of her previous Dark Hunter books. ( )

I don't understand what's happened to this author but it seems lately everything she puts out is just one pile of crap after another. I don't know if she's run out of ideas or she's just pressured to keep pumping out book after book but I'm no longer going to be buying books from this author. It starts out decently. The heroine, broke, divorced but able to laugh and joke and be sarcastic falls through a mirror and finds herself in the fey version of hell. There she's saved from mutant zombie like creatures by the hero, a half breed demon who's been banished to the forgotten realm by his step brother. In the world of grey, the woman's a beacon of light that brings happiness into his world. He's sweet, insecure and freaking sexy as hell and it doesn't take long for the heroine to fall into bed with him. Literally, that night they meet, she's on him like white on rice, not that I blame her but its was comically rushed and forced. They spend a day or so together, learning about the hero's tortured soul and brutal childhood and the fact that no one loves him and blah blah blah. Every single hero is a cookie cutter of the last. It's old. For god sakes change it up already. Now, up until this point this book was okay. I could deal with it. Then, it's in a terrible car accident and everyone dies. No joke, the two characters do a body swap.....What the hell I thought only Naruto fan fiction writers did body swaps!!!! No, apparently not. The author thought it a good idea to put the man in the heroines body and vice versa, then...have them sleep with each other. Gross. Honesty, I had to stop there and did not finish the story. Plus the writing was dull and unimaginative. The hero lost the charming mispronunciation and phrasing that he had in the beginning and suddenly started speaking like a valley girl. Lazy. This book has pretty much sealed my loss of interest in this series and this author. It's sad. Sort of like an end of an era. Who's next? ( )
