"Winnie-the-Pooh was delighted with the terrific success of Winnie-the-Pooh on Management. Not only did that Acclaimed Bestseller confirm his position as a VIB (Very Important Bear), it showed managers as only the persuasive Pooh could how to make it to the top of the tree (where the honey is)." "Now The Stranger returns to the Hundred Acre Wood to help Pooh (not to mention Piglet, Tigger, Owl, Kanga, and all the others) learn about a new Very Important Challenge that all managers - and everyone else - must master: Problem Solving." "And so it is that The Stranger, using the well-known adventures of Pooh and friends, teaches and explains the unique SOLVE Problem-Solving Method, a step-by-step system of identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems. Pooh, and you, learn all the principles of practical problem solving, which can be applied as easily to rescuing Tigger from high up in a tree as to the many challenges that are part of today's rapidly changing and complex world. Teaching the "Hows" of defining the problem, learning by questioning, visualizing possible solutions, and monitoring results are what this book does best."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. An interesting book, but the general premise and thesis of it is simplistic and generally just something quite obvious. The attempt of the book is to help readers on how to solve problems (using a system called SOLVE), but each step of the process is pretty much something we naturally all do even without realizing it.

The Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, etc. segments were entertaining for what they were, but overall the book was an unneeded exercise in helping people to solve problems. Might be good for some people, but I generally felt it was a gigantic 'meh'.

3 Stars on GoodReads, 2.5 stars on LibraryThing. ( )

This one is very similar to "Pooh on Management", both in its good and its bad sides. The presented problem solving strategy is simple and sounds efficient, one is tempted to apply it in real life and (in my case) in doing science. On the other hand, the Pooh parts make the book seem childish. They just make the book fast to read since they don't share any messages or real insight, it's just chatter. Actually, it's like fan fiction, which I tend to find embarrassing. ( )
