ER program; I honestly forgot about this one, finding it in my library after a long hiatus. As I read, I remembered that my first impression of this collection was uninspired. The main theme of holidays could be interesting, but it's not very relatable. I'm not resistant to heart-warming prose, but I didn't find purpose or point in many of the stories. The writing was okay, but the trajectory of each story was a manipulation from "what's wrong" to "all better!" ( )

I received this book from Circumspect Press as an early reviewer. I was very grateful to receive the book and eager to read it. While I looked forward to the idea of the book and it's "........Tales of The Holidays", it just wasn't an enjoyable read to me. I would read some of the short stories and then wonder to myself what was I supposed to get from that particular story. Had I not felt obligated to review the book, I would not have finished reading it. I suppose it's all subjective but these types of stories missed the mark with me. ( ) ( )

Beautifully written short stories depicting people in real situations, sometimes heart-rending. The stories are related to a holiday or special day. Exquisite details. I'll now see what else I can find by this author. ( )

An Early Reviewers win that I've tried and tried to find a way into, this collection isn't bad...but it's not good either. The sentences are direct and convey meaning without muss, fuss, or bother, but they never--not one time--rise above that basic function. Art is not the missing element, nor is the author inept. It is simply that the book is, in some curious way, uninspired and therefore uninspiring.

Not my happiest ER experience. ( )

Received as an early review copy

This is a collection of short stories all centered around the theme of the holidays. It makes a great escape from the stress that holidays can create but a reminder of the spirit of the season. ( )
