This funny book follows the story of a little dinosaur that has a bad habit of hitting. They see different members of their family and alternatives to hitting. My favorite example was, "DON"T HIT your grandma... Help your grandma." And it shows the little dino helping their grandma bake and have fun. It concludes with using positive affirmation and telling the dino they did a good job. "You're a good helper, Little Dino! And helpers don't hit... HELPERS HUG!" This series of books is amazing for teachers that notice patterns of hitting behavior in their class. This book is kind, has positive affirmation, shows positive alternatives, and is straight to the point. ( )

The book alternates pages of showing examples of appropriate and inappropriate behavior. There are very few words in the story so the reader could easily add more words to the story if it would be beneficial for the students. For example, there is a page where Dino is helping his sister ride bike and the teacher could say, "Dino is teaching his sister to ride bike. He is being a good helper." This book was perfect for my students as it was not too wordy for them.

This is my favorite of the manners series that I've read so far. It's easy to say don't hit, but little ones still struggle with it. This cute little visual story works wonders! ( )
