This wasn't one of my favorites, but I'm a devoted fan of Ellen O'Connell's historical westerns. It took me awhile to warm up to Deborah. I did like Trey and the way he stood up to his father. I'd wondered what would become of the three orphaned girls after Cal and Norah brought them back to Hubbell. I did like this story and it was neat to see Norah and Cal in their middle age years. However, there was something missing between the couple. Given Deborah's background of abuse, the passion was stunted, which is understandable. It think my favorite part of this book came in the last chapters, where true healing begins. This was well worth reading and I hope to see more books from this author in the future. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica

I liked this okay but not as much as others by this author. I didn't fall in love with the hero. He wasn't as strong a character as other heroes in this author's books. Also I am not really a fan of stories set in this time period. It was set in 1898 and I just don't find stories set in this time period as interesting as historicals set in the 1860s or 1870s when the west was wilder. Still it seemed well researched and had a good sense of time and place. ( )
