I really do love Sarah Mayberry's writing. I think she handles serious issues without letting them overwhelm her stories. Her characters are believably flawed but inherently decent people. The chemistry between the romantic leads is sizzling and the sex scenes are blistering. However, I often find the endings to be rushed and too neat. In this book particularly, I had a huge issue with the resolution. Lola, the mother of Seth's baby, is in a coma for nearly the entire book. I do appreciate that she wasn't just shoved into a hospital bed to provide a contrast for Vivian, but that her character had a history. I wish there had been a way for Vivian to step into her shoes without Lola actually dying, but okay, car accident, major head trauma, fine. My problem though, is that, after Seth and Vivian finally hook up and then have their obligatory parting, their reunion takes place at Lola's funeral. With Seth literally chasing down Vivian. This is so incredibly callous that I can't believe it actually was written that way. It seemed so disrespectful. Have the epiphany occur at the funeral, with both characters agreeing that a funeral is neither the time nor the place to reconcile and agreeing to meet later. Then they can have their huge love/sex scene to wrap things up. It really dragged down my enjoyment of the book.

Also, I don't have babies but it seemed to me like Seth had a way easy time taking care of 1. a preemie 2. by himself 3. while running his business 4. dealing with the effects of his baby-mama's tragic accident 5. and also falling in love. Unless there was a lot more baby-care help occurring off page and without mention. ( )
