( ) Traditional Cinderella tale we are familiar with. Cinderella is treated poorly by her stepmother and step sisters. With the help of a fairy godmother, Cinderella is able to attend the royal ball in a pumpkin coach. Cinderella flees the ball at midnight, losing one glass slipper as she does. The prince finds this glass slipper and later used it to locate her, they marry and live happily ever after. Cinderella is a classic story book. What I liked about this one was how the illustrations were different from the original story. These illustrations had a style that reminded me more of the 1700s. I say this because the gowns worn in this story were equally the same as those worn long go and the details in the faces were the same as portraits from long ago as well. The plot of Cinderella is always a classic fairytale. I enjoy the happily ever after parts of a story and this story was an example of that. I believe the author did a good job with capturing the true personalities of each character. Cinderella was portrayed as being "a girl of wonderful goodness and gentleness," while her step-sisters were characterized as being "very proud, haughty women, just like their mother." I think the author did a good job showing empathy towards Cinderella's character. Saying something like, "She slept at the top of the house, in an attic, on a thin straw mattress, while her sisters had rooms with polished floors and beds in the latest fashion and mirrors where they could see themselves from head to foot" really made the reader feel sad for Cinderella. This is why the ending, where Cinderella finds true love and gets the life she always deserved, felt appropriate and comforting. It also teaches children to always be kind and genuine. Cinderella is a sweet fantasy and I very much liked this version of it. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
