I FINALLY FINISHED IT. OMG this took me so long to get through and not because it was bad, but just because it was a bit slower than the first two books in the series. A lot happens as it is the trilogy's conclusion, but with Rachel and Logan separated for the majority of the book, it was a little difficult to get through at times. They play so well off of each other and I felt like the lack of interaction between them was a hinderance to the book, and I don't just mean their romantic interactions. They're strong on their own, but their personal strengths in both brain and brawn come together so nicely when they're together, which really develops their characters more.

Overall it was still very enjoyable and a wonderful conclusion! ( )

A nice, satisfying, and justice finding ending. Unlike some dystopian novels, this one ends on a high note, though there is considerable loss along the way. I'd like to know more about the creatures that live under the earth. ( )

Quick & Dirty: A good ending to a fun series. I really struggled to get into this final book, but once I finally read it, I ended up enjoying it!

Opening Sentence: “Five minutes.”

The Review:

Rachel has been kidnapped and is on her way into enemy territory! If she has any hope of surviving and getting back to Logan she will have to escape her captors. But as they draw closer to Rowansmark, Rachel discovers a terrible secret. Rowansmark has a weapon that could destroy everyone she loves and the only way to save them is to destroy it. Instead of trying to escape Rachel decides that she will need to go into the heart of her enemy’s city and dismantle the weapons herself. It will be dangerous and her chances of getting out alive are slim, but Rachel will do anything to protect the people she loves.

Logan has once again been separated from the girl he loves and to rescue her he will need an army. Too bad he is currently stuck in prison and about to go on trial. Logan needs a plan and he needs to figure it out fast or he is going to lose everything. An opportunity presents itself, but if Logan decides to take it he will have to join forces with the man he hates most: Commander Jason Chase. Logan knows that he can’t trust the Commander but it looks like he doesn’t have any other options if he wants to save Rachel.

I loved Rachel in Defiance but I really struggled with her character in Deception! She was so negative and just not the spunky person I connected with in the first book. At the beginning of Deliverance I still struggled with her a little bit but as the book progressed I started to like her again. She grows so much and while she is tainted by what has happened to her she learns to deal with it. I feel like I understand her so much better now and in the end I think she becomes an amazing and inspiring character. She is someone that has been through so much but no matter what life throws at her she never gives up. I loved how resourceful and determined she is, it made her someone you can respect. Overall, me and Rachel had our ups and downs but ultimately I loved her.

I had pretty much the same issues with Logan that I had with Rachel. I loved him in the first book and had a really hard time with him in the second book. He had a lot of confidence issues and it was frustrating to watch him doubt himself so much. But luckily he wasn’t like that in this book. He has really come into his own and has become the amazing leader he was always meant to be.

The one thing that has been great throughout all three books was the relationship between Logan and Rachel. They are so sweet together and they bring out the best in each other. I love that Logan respects Rachel and treats her like an equal. I also love that Rachel push’s Logan to be the best person he can be. There is never any doubt about how much they love each other and that was refreshing. In so many books nowadays the relationship problems add all the drama to the story and I am so glad that wasn’t the case with this book.

Deliverance is a fast paced story full of romance and adventure, but I had really mixed feelings about it. First off, I got a review copy of this book months before it even released and I remember being really excited about it, so I picked it up right away. I think I maybe got 25% in and just didn’t feel like finishing it. About a year later, I tried to pick it up again and I got a little bit further but ended up putting it down again. I was going to just write a DNF review but I was talking to a friend and she told me how much she loved this series so I figured I would give it one more try. I am glad I did because I did end up finishing the book this time around and ultimately I did like it, but I think I just needed to be in the mood for it. I also think one of the main reasons I lost interest before was because it felt very similar to the two previous books. The plot seemed to be a little repetitive so I think if you were to binge read the whole series you might get bored, but if you spread it out I don’t think you will notice this as much. Personally, I liked the first book in the series by far, it was the best but it did wrap up nicely and I am glad I finished reading it. If you are a fantasy fan I would recommend giving this series a try!

Notable Scene:

“I’m not worried. I’m just saying that I’m not walking into Rowansmark with nothing to show for our trip but your assurances that your brother will show up.”

“We don’t need Rachel anymore. He’ll show up no matter what, don’t you see that?” Ian’s voice is impatient. “We can punish her now, and –“

“What does it matter if you punish her now or punish her later? The girl is dead either way.”

FTC Advisory: HarperTeen provided me with a copy of Deliverance. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review. ( )

I’m happy to say that I have followed this book from the very beginning. It has captured my attention yet I could not put it down.

Plot: So if you have followed this series, then you know what is going on. Rachel is in a war and captured, struggling to hang on. Logan is trying to get to her as well as dealing with secrets of his own. This plot fills in the reader with many secrets and answers. It has plenty of action so you will neither get bored or tired of it. I read page to page as fast as I could.

Rachel/Logan: The plot does switch between the two characters. It does flow well, giving a reader a good insight on what is going on in the moment with both of them. I can’t even begin to tell you how exciting it was to know Logan thoughts. I always wanted to be in his mind more and this story gives the reader the opportunity.

Ending: Well the ending gears up for this epic battle and its awesome. Things get resolved and the reader even gets a really nice ending. I couldn’t help but smile as I read the last few pages. In fact, I read them three times. Just so I can feel the feeling of love and peace.

Yes this series is DA BOMB and yes, you should go out and buy it. Deliverance is an excellent tale full of energy and achievement. ( )
