I've seen tons of these books so I decided to try one from the Little Free Library. I am not impressed. Amelia is shown as a kid throughout, not a growing girl and woman to equal others in her life. Her short size makes her look ridiculous in cars, planes, and next to adults. I can't decide whether this is meant to be a kid imagining she is Earhart or if she's actually supposed to be Earhart. There's lots of modern slang and phrasing, so maybe the former? But then she's only ever around people who seem period-appropriate in drawings. Oh, and 8 out of, like, 40 pages are dedicated to a roller coaster she built as a kid. I guess I just don't know what the message is supposed to be. I mean, it says right out, "I hope you remember that the greatest flight you'll ever take, is the one no one has tried before." But then I'm rembering how she disappeared, which isn't mentioned at all. I'd prefer an honest, straight-up biography. ( )

I only just heard about the 'I am' books last night when scrolling through litsy . I immediately put some in my reserve cart at the library. I can't wait to share these with the children in my life! Who am I kidding, I'm buying a set for myself as well.

The drawings are so cute and I love how this one encourages children to be themselves, even if it isn't quite what is expected of them. Highly recommend it! ( )

This is a nonfiction biography about Amelia Earhart, also known as the first woman to fly across the Atlantic . I think this book would be great for an early middle grades history class. The book is not only about Amelia Earhart, but it's about chasing your dreams no matter what. ( )

This book is about the life of Amelia Earhart. The book depicts her as a young child in the illustrations but makes sure the reader knows she is an adult. This would be a great book for starting a lesson with younger children on her.

I found this book to be very cute and tell an amazing story of Amelia Earhart. I think this is a great book for young children, especially young girls. I think its great for younger girls to see a role model who did such incredible things! ( )
