An Untimely Romance is a story about, Heather Richardson, a soon to be eighteen year old girl who travels between the past and present, encountering apparitions of a scorned maid and a boy who died in the workhouse. Heather's character is a brat. She is rude to her parents, her friend Frank, and falls in instantly in love with a jerk named Ruben who verbally abuses her. I just do not see what her attraction is to him. He is not a likeable character at all. In one scene, he manhandled her when he got angry. True to form, Heather travels to the past via a bedroom in an unused wing of her home and falls instantly in love with the master of the house in the 18thcentury. Heather believes that the ghost maid and boy are her connections to him. I liked the story, but had a few issues with how the past and present interacted. It was clear Heather's connection to the past was the home, but the visions continued during a weekend outing. I would have preferred that any paranormal activity stay within the confines of the house. Also, Heather traveled to the past wearing modern clothes. Yet she was immediately accepted into the home as an acquaintance of the master. There she stayed for months (only a few hours in present time) recuperating from amnesia. I found it hard to believe that the master's aunt, who based a person's worth on their lineage and wealth, would have accepted a stranger she had stumbled onto in the garden. Without giving away any spoilers, I can see why Heather chose the final outcome as it appears to have been the only conclusion that would have allowed for a happily ever after. However, a particular issue in the present did not make sense to me as there was a witness to the event. I am not sure why everyone's reaction was that Heather was acting out of character, when, I think, it would have been more plausible if it were outright confusion by what could not be explained. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica

The characters are all well-written and evoked strong emotions in me. I loved them, disliked them, loathed them, but ultimately found they were all necessary to develop the plot and move it along.
Young Heather Richardson finds herself living in an old manor house with her parents. She's young at seventeen and finds herself dealing with feelings for two men, unexplained visions and a plot that twists just when you expect it to turn.
An excellent story of time travel and romance. The authors blend the story together well and I'm anxious to see where this new romance series goes next. This mother / daughter team has a wonderful future!
Untimely is an absolute TBR for all time travel romance lovers and I highly recommend you start on it soon!
