This spiritual, thought-provoking story begins with the sudden, unexpected death of John's wife Helen. John is devastated, lost, and depressed. In spring, John decides to return to his touchstone, a beach, to walk, think and to again find meaning with his life. On one of his morning walks, John is approached by an older, enigmatic woman, Sophia. Sophia has an ability to look into John and invites John to have a dialogue. Over the ensuing days and weeks, Sophia and John walk and discuss the Soul, judgment, man, the Apocalypse, the journey of the Soul, and why no Souls are left behind. The story is told through John's dreams and the conversations with Sophia. This provocative, highly readable spiritual journey leads John to the positive discovery of his own inward divine spark, his Soul, and to his eventual reconnection with Helen. The book provides lucid insights into the Soul, why man is here and the forward journey of the Soul. The book is relevant to followers of any religion as well as to non-believers. Brother John creates characters that the readers will feel relatable to. the emotions in the book are true to any person whether they have experienced something that deep or not. The scenes are very vivid that the readers feel as if they are standing on the beach along the side of John on his journey of life.
If you are into theories about life and the after life this book is for you. Again there are no stars because it wasn't bad, but because I'm not quite sure how to rate the book of this genre.
