This is an extraordinary collection and impressive concept -- to represent the works of WWI trench poets like Siegfried Sassoon, Wilfred Owen, Robert Graves and others in graphic form. The different styles depicted by the cartoonists are well matched to their subjects and capture the essence of the poems beautifully. Mostly it testifies to the horrors of war in any age and begs the question -- why do they persist? How have we not learned from the past? ( ![]() moving combination of graphic art and poetry This is a brilliant collection of graphic novel interpretations of WWI poetry. There isn't a miss in the collection, and there is a good mix of very familiar poems (Dulce et Decorum Est) and more obscure ones. I won't lie...I cried several times. An excellent collection of twenty World War I poems superbly illustrated by twenty leading graphic artists. Includes biographical information about each of the poets. Visually and emotionally haunting. This is a fantastic collection of WWI poetry that has been brought back to life by talented artists and cartoonists. The poems are touching enough, but when they're put in comic format like this, it's in a class of it's own. This collection is great for those who wish to better understand WWI and the brutality of war. It's not pretty, it's graphic, scary, and gritty. A great resource for teachers and others who are looking to get a better grip on the atrocities of war. It would be great if other poetry collections were given this same illustrated/comic treatment. It adds a whole new dimension. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
