Text is by Cora Ginsburg, Donna Ghelerter, and Kathleen Staples. This is a republication of a small book of embroidery patterns in the Cora Ginsburg collection. The original was published from 1643 - 1667 by Peter Stent. The introduction by the first two authors talks about pattern books in general and how they were used. Ms. Staples has a couple page article detailing what is known about Peter Stent. And then there are 19 plates of patterns from nature. A curious work, indeed! Recommended for those who collect historical pattern books. ( )
