Warning that there are a few spoilers and excessive used of CAPS ahead but I just don't care anymore. I am a bit irritated with this book. To put it nicely. The first 2/3 were great! Nothing out of the box, but the story of an accountant with a wild side and a crazy rocker was working. Cute, made me smile, enjoyed reading about them. Legit character development was being done and it was working. But then we hit a cry wall and I thought I must have started reading another book completely. It literally felt like Riley went from a strong female character to a weeping pot in the space of about ten pages. I get that she had a bad experience in the past, so bad she needed therapy. But the about face that happens in her personality once we find out about it was intense. I felt HELLA sorry for Jax because he went from having a fling with a kick ass girl, to having a weepy girl cry all over him and pry REALLY HARD into things he wasn't ready to talk about. Like she just wouldn't stop pushing him. It was painful, but it was written in a way that I could tell I was supposed to be sympathizing with her and thinking that JAX was the ass for not talking. W. T. F. AND THEN, we finally find out about his past by him literally taking her to the place everything bad happened. VERY. EMOTIONALLY. PAINFUL. And there is an oh-so-cliched scene where he "confronts" his past... And he gets his ass beat. And then Riley commits homicide. Or at least, the homicide was HEAVILY implied, because the book just stops right there. It doesn't "conclude". It just straight up ENDS. No resolution on his band issues, nothing else about her final act of insanity (like if she was ARRESTED), Jax sounds like he needs to go the the hospital so I HOPE HE WAS OK BUT I DON'T FREAKING KNOW, and NO closure for Jax since NOTHING was resolved AT ALL by them going back. Just poor writing overall, which is what surprised the hell out of me since the first 2/3 gave no clues at all that this melodrama was going to happen at the end. UGH. Copy courtesy of Blackbird Publishing, via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book is about a bad boy rock star and what happens when he meets the woman who can tame him. The premise of the book is good, and really the overall story is good, but the writing style is a little too jumpy for me. It seemed that things happened out of the blue and for no apparent reason other than shock value. A sexy rocker and a spunky tour accountant know how to tease and have fun while trying to keep things platonic between them. Since that could never work, the Sparks are stoked to flames and things get hot and heavy. Past hurts and demons rear their heads, and Jax proves time & again he's in it for real with Riley, and the end turns into another beginning. I enjoyed this Priscilla West story, it was fun and just realistic enough to keep my interest. I can't wait to see what's in store for these two in the sequel! *I received an arc for an honest review* Received via Netgalley from Blackbird Publishing in exchange for an honest review. I tried. Lord I tried. I even read this as a satire on the rock star romance craze that seems to on the rise lately. It didn’t work. This book didn’t work for me. The heroine of this story, Riley meets a guy singing in a dive bar who is attractive and calls her back stage. She decides to sleep with him, and he treats her without respect (not surprising). Later on she’s assigned to the band as their accountant, romping about the tour bus with Jax (our rock star). My main problem with this novel lies with how dramatic everything is. The story begins with a giant naked concert in a dive bar and leaps straight into men chasing Jax with baseball bats. Riley is an air head, a selfish one that even insults her best friend and work friend. Ill also be honest and say not even half way I gave up on trying to like anything about this book. I completed this book only because it was an ARC copy. I didn’t care what happened to the couple, one that I never really got any connection to and honestly felt unrealistic. I want to like it. I just couldn’t. It’s not for me, but maybe it’s for you. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
A Contemporary Romance Novel by USA Today Bestselling Author Priscilla West"I'm gonna enjoy it. Making you sexually frustrated. All that tension. No release."Everything about him warned me to stay away. I'd seen bad boys before, but he had it all and more. The rippling muscles covered in tatts, the piercing eyes hiding dark secrets, the silky voice that could make a girl come with just a whisper . . .He was exactly the type of guy that would get me in trouble, but when he jumped off the stage, inked skin glistening with sweat and breathed his seductive words into my ear, I couldn't resist the temptation. It was supposed to be the best one-night stand of my life, but fate didn't let it play out that way. Things happened. I got upset. I got hasty. And worst of all, I got reckless. After that disaster, I thought it was the last I'd see of him. But what I didn't know was that I'd started something.Something that could shatter the very thing I had worked so hard to protect.I should have known back then that the most seductive things in life are also the most dangerous.*This is not a standalone book, the story continues in:Reckless Book Two (The Forever Series) -> Available Fall 2014 Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |

First of all, you have Priscilla West who is one of my favorites (thanks to NetGalley). Then you have a rocker romance. You put those two together and BAM! Riley learns there's more to life than accounting and also teaches bad boy rockers a thing or two. Riley's sass was awesome and I am very very ready for the next installment. ( )
