Magnificent water colors. Villagers want to kill a tiger that seems to be near them. A hunter shows up and says he will shoot it. SPOILER: The hunter succeeds ... in photographing it and when he returns to the village he will not admit that he has seen the tiger; although he does wink at the young boy who takes him aside. The book ends with a discussion of the extinction of several species of tigers and the threat to other species and a suggestion to help the World Wide Fund for Nature. ( )
