Worth a read. ( ) I just heard about this series yesterday and it piqued my interest. Finished this in hours. In my opinion, it's a pretty much perfect gay romance novel. The main characters, Levi and Carter, though hugely famous, are believable. It's difficult to write convincingly (and not in a cringe-worthy way) about other media within a book, but the TV show the two actors are involved in is well-crafted, as is the fan response and the descriptions of the blockbuster movies in which the lead character has starred. Equally impressive is the indie and film noir knowledge woven into the plot. I recognized some of the movie titles, but not enough to know if all of them or real of if the author made up many of them. If so, it was well done. In many books, fake movie/book/band names are super corny, but everything here worked. The characters were appealing, had a lot of chemistry, and a lot of the characterizations were endearing - especially Levi's cats. I don't know if the other books in the series will hold up to this one, but for a book that was free on Kindle I was really impressed with this author. It's almost written like really, really good fanfiction, which I intend as a compliment. I've read a few other M/M romances recently that were obviously written by a straight female and they were pretty terrible, but not this one. This gave me all the warm, fuzzy, romantic feelings. There's not a lot of sex, but what physical connection there is between the two protagonists feels authentic. For this type of book, this one is near the top for me. I was hooked. Let's discuss how I adore the Bluewater Bay series. It's m/m romance set in a small Pacific Northwest town where a genre TV show based on a book series films. The characters are a great mix of cast, crew, and townie (including a few loggers). This is a town I'd like to visit, and it's definitely a TV show I'd watch and series I would read. The books are on the whole funny and sweet, with realistic problems and solutions. In Starstruck (Bluewater Bay #1) action-hero Levi Pritchard has retired to Bluewater Bay leaving Hollywood behind only to find himself right back in the spotlight when Wolf's Landing comes to town to film, bringing with it an offer for a role on the show and Carter Samuels, the show's lead actor, who wants Levi on the show and in his bed. Levi keeps his sexuality to himself, Carter is proudly out, and they're not sure if they can ever be together. This was adorable. Especially the parts dealing with the show and its fandom, and the crew member who happily leaks rumors to Twitter. If you've ever watched a show with two male leads and suddenly shipped them, this book is for you. HTML: Hollywood is full of dirty secrets, but Carter refuses to be Levi's. Retired action star Levi Pritchard has made a quiet life for himself in the sleepy logging town of Bluewater Bay, Washington. But then Hollywood comes to film the wildly popular television series Wolf's Landing, and Bluewater Bay isn't so sleepy anymore. His retirement doesn't stick, either, because he's offered a part on the showâ??exactly the kind of complex role he'd always wanted, one that would prove him more than a glorified stuntman. The only catch? He has to stay in the closetâ??no matter how attractive he finds his co-star. Carter Samuels is the critically-acclaimed male lead on Wolf's Landing. And now, the man who inspired him to take up actingâ??and made him realize he's gayâ??is joining the cast, and sparks fly between them instantly. But Carter is out and proud and determined to stay true to himself. Remaining just friends is the only thing to do, as both the studio and Levi's disapproving, dysfunctional family keep reminding them. Except their friendship deepens by the day, tempting them with what they can't have but both desperatel Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |
