A Death in Vienna is a book retelling the story of the WWII Nazi torture camps wherein millions of Jewish people were tortured, burnt, killed for being Jewish. It is a very well researched book. Four stars were awarded to this book. It is highly recommended that people read this book. ( ) Art restorer and spy Gabriel Allon is sent to Vienna to discover the truth behind a bombing which killed an old friend who was a Nazi hunter. While there he encounters something that turns his whole life upside down. Each fact he uncovers only leads to more questions. This was a complex story with some compelling parts where Holocaust survivors tell about their experiences, including Allon’s mother. Gabriel is a likeable and capable spy. Most of the time, he was vigilant about paying attention to his surroundings for enemies. But occasionally, he seemed almost oblivious and not credible. The assassin in the story didn’t seem that good at his job even though he was very experienced. This was a decent story and I also enjoy this author's writing style. Allon has become a Nazi war criminal hunter here as he tracks down someone he believes to be a Nazi living under a new name in Vienna, There is a harrowing chapter of Allon's mother's testimony of Nazi horrors and a death march she experienced proving Silva's brilliance at writing fiction with a real-life backstory. A fine espionage thriller. I've enjoyed all of this series so far - I've read the first 5. The books are entertaining and suspenseful, and present a point of view about Israel's place in the Middle East that is interesting, although I don't know if it's totally factual or not. But there are some interesting thoughts to consider on why Israel is the way it is. sem crÃticas | adicionar uma crÃtica
