I like greater character development than Abrahams provided. Some of the characters are truly evil yet up until this moment, one of them led a privileged life. Considering this profound switch, I would have appreciated a greater understanding of why. Francie is having an affair. Unbeknownst to Francie, her husband Roger finds out about it and decides Francie needs to be dead but he needs to commit the perfect crime so that he doesn't get caught. A promising beginning with good writing but then the unbelievable coincidences kept piling up, and I was unable to finish the book, which was unfortunate because I have heard good things about this author so I may try to read something else of his before making a final judgment. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica

The quote before the beginning of his novel hooked me. The story of adultery is not new; however, “where other women dared not tread ” piqued my interest. Was Abrahams going to offer new twists on an old subject, or was he going to take a woman character beyond the conceived sin of adultery?
In this highly suspenseful novel, Abrahams begins a steady climb, like a roller-coaster ride. At the peak of the narrative, the ride rolls to the ending, twisting characters and plots, circling around, falling down, climbing back up, only to take the reader to another precipice where supposedly everything can be seen—but wait—there is another dip, and we’re pushed. We fall, fall, fall, our breath jerked out of our lungs with a horror of blood and screams.
A failing marriage, a secret affair, refuge from unhappiness prepares four lives to encounter a cunning killer who also wishes for more.
