Steven Hatch manages to write with both wit and gravity about going through the third year of medical school. His unique voice comes through the subject matter clearly; he narrates his own experiences in an engaging journal/diary style. He simultaneously illustrates the amazing, bufuddling, and shocking aspects of this less-written about yet transformative year.

Steven's insights into the medical profession and the practice of being a doctor not only made me think, but made me laugh. His ability to accomplish both in the same text is deserves high accolades. I highly recommend this book as an excellent and enlightening read for anyone, not just those pursuing a medical degree. ( )
