Wow. This short novel by Mrs. Reisz is beautiful...I read it now, with 30 degree outside, and it's simply incredible. I'm feeling quite overwhelmed and "full". For those who want to try it (and you should because...ok, have you read what I wrote before?! no other words needed, trust me) wait a cloudy or rainy day, then prepare a cup of tea and only after all this, take a couple of hour to enjoy this little pearl. It's worth every second you'll spend with it. The Headmaster was beautiful, eery and very cozy! Another perfect Halloween read, ladies and gents! It's also not related to Tiffany's The Original Sinners series, so if you want to try this author with a short story without any commitments, go right ahead! She doesn't involve any BDSM aspects in this book, but her main heroine, Gwen, is just as incorrigeable as Nora and the headmaster Edwin is as stern as Soren and crumbles before Gwen in the same formidable manner. There is humour, warmth and a very haunting, bittersweet ending. Loved it! WOWWW!!! Cool story. it somewhat reminded me of a movie "The Awakening" starring Rebecca Hall. The story was very well written and the ending....i didn't see that coming. but yeah i almost got it once that Old Lady just arrived.. Still the story was really sweet, funny, light-hearted and pretty cool :-) I loved The Headmaster..!! ♥♥ sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica

A fever dream of desires fulfilled. RITA® Award nominated title from International Bestselling Author Tiffany Reisz. Nestled in the shadow of the Appalachians is where Gwen Ashby stumbles upon the William Marshall Academy, and she's given a trial position as a literature teacher. The gothic boarding school seems trapped in time yet it feels like home the moment Gwen arrives. She's charmed by the lovely buildings, bewitched by the eager students...and utterly seduced by the headmaster. Edwin Yorke is noble, handsome and infuriatingly proper. But his tweedy exterior and courtly manners conceal a raw sensual power that Gwen longs to unleash. It's strangely thrilling to be the only woman on campus--save one other. An eerie white-clad figure roams the grounds by night. She never speaks. She leaves no trace. But this ghostly blight on Gwen's new dream life is the key to the Marshall Academy's mysterious allure. "A very well-written, unique and hauntingly Gothic story, with the enough amount of detailed descriptions of atmosphere and characters and beautiful references to some of the best literary works." --Goodreads Review Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |

Let me fix that.
I read this little book when I got it in the chillers (?) anthology. I only purchased the anthology because of this entry, so when I finished it, I promptly put it away and went about my life.
The story was fun, sweet, with humor and a bit of supernatural mystery. The long and the short of it is a young teacher takes a new post at an exclusive, old-world style all boys school on the East Coast (?). She gets there and instantly taken with the tweedy headmaster of the school who looks at her as if she is going to cause trouble and drag him and his boys with her. She doesn't, but she sure wants to get his hair ruffled and heat up his eyeglasses. So, between the humor, and the seduction we realize that there is more going on with the school than initially thought. Some creepy sounds and unexplained sightings as well as some misunderstood visitors clue the reader into the knowledge that there is more going on that just teaching.
The book is sweet with just the right amount of heat and humor.
Like most of everything Tiffany writes, you know its hers the first page. Her voice and writing style is unmistakable and always the reason why I continue to pay full price for her books. If asked I would say that this book was the answer to the question, "What would Soren do for Nora if he passed away?", Why he would send her to an all boys school to teach English and fall in love with the perfectly respectable and available headmaster, who is in no way a threat to his memory, but can offer some real love. I can see that. ( )
