I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed Kobee Manatee: A Wild Weather Adventure by Robert Scott Thayer. As a mother of small children, I felt that the book was a great way to teach fun ocean weather facts. The illustrations were colorful and eye-catching and are sure to hold children's interests. The story was fast-paced and adventurous. While I appreciated the weather facts, this was the only thing that kept me from leaving a 5 star review. As this is targeted towards children, I thought some of the facts might have been a little too advanced for younger children who might have a harder time retaining the lengthy fact sections. Also, towards the end of the book, there are several fact sections (i.e. facts about tornadoes, temperature, fog, and sky color) that seem out of place in the ocean theme of the book. Overall, though, I enjoyed the book, as did my kids. ( )

Kobee the manatee and his friends set off from Florida to the Bahamas for his friend Kim's birthday. On the journey, they encounter various types of weather and events. On each page there is a "fun fact" about the weather or event. I found that sometimes they seem to distract from the story. The illustrations were beautiful and fun.

I did find some of the facts to be way above what seemed to be the target audience of the book, and I thought other facts out of place in the story (tornadoes for example). I would recommend that you read the story to the child first, then go back and go over the fun facts. There is a lot of interesting information in the story.

This would be a great book to use when teaching young children about weather and the dangers of it.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
