And maybe that's why I was able to enjoy a very, very small portion of Milk and Honey. One or two of her pieces on rape and molestation really affected me, but then she dilutes her good work with pieces like this: i know i should crumble for better reasons but have you seen that boy he brings the sun to its knees every night That's not even a very good sentence, let alone poetry. There are about four poignant pieces in the collection. Unfortunately, they are drowned out by a roar of mediocrity. Heals a different heartache. milk and honey takes readers through a journey of the most bitter moments in life and finds sweetness in them because there is sweetness everywhere if you are just willing to look.
