kinda wish this was a full novel ( )

I'm actually amazed that I enjoyed this anthology as much as I did.
Charming Bastard is about Boonie and Darcie and I really loved their story.
It was only 3 chapters but packed full of emotions and heartrending events.
There is a 'Steamy Scene' also.
If that was all I based my rating on it would have gotten 5 stars.

There is also a couple of recopies and since I don't cook, that really didn't do anything for me.

Another story was called Sticky Sweet and that was 'Okay'.
The is a prologue of sorts to Melanie's and Painters story. I liked it too. In fact, I liked it more than I did the actual prologue in their book.

My favorite quote from the book is;

“We’re just normality-challenged. It’ll be okay.”

I love that quote! It so fits my personality and most everyone in my life. I am so using that quote as often as I can get away with.

I very much enjoyed this one. Which blows my mind since I didn't expect to and was only reading it due to it's connection to this series.
So color me a happy camper ( )

Reapers and Bastards is an anthology of four novellas written from both series. "Charming Bastard" is the story of how Darcy and Boonie got together. As next door neighbors, the two children played together, but by the time Boonie was in high school, he wanted more from eighth grade, Darcy, than she was ready to give, but he did give her first kiss. Later things became more complicated when she ended up marrying Farell when Boonie left town to join the marines.
In "Sticky Sweet," we learn that Marie and Horse met when the club paid a visit to Marie's brother to collect a debt.
In "Skunked" Horse's dog has been sprayed by a skunk, leading to a hilarious effort trying to clean up the pup, while at the same time, finding out something life-changing from Marie.
Finally, in "Sugar and Spice," Melanie stays with London and Reece after London's house blows up and Melanie thinks she is responsible. When she meets Painter, she is immediately attracted.
This is a good anthology, but like any other novella, these stories were just long enough to catch my interest, but not long enough to tell an entire story. Most of them were short stories leading into or out of another book. Well written, entertaining, but just not long enough. ( )

I guess because I have spent years reading Harlequin Presents and Historical Romance and Space Opera's.... I just cannot get used to heroine's who are so casual about sex. When I was in high school girls who put out were whores.... that's just the way it was. Sex was not casual and everywhere....even though it was. So the heroine's in MC books....are not sluts but they appear to be...and that is different from the virgins I am used to reading about.

It's gritty and real ...sometimes too real...but good. ( )
