The Wright Brothers made history on December 17, 1903. This story tells of their determination that preservers through the many trials and tribulations that Orville and Wilbur face as they continue with their lifelong dream of flying. I found this book informative and it is also a good example of determination. For a historical fiction book, I think that this book does tell this story in a more interesting way than if one was to read about the facts in a textbook. This book can be utilized when learning about the history of the Wright Brothers, airplanes, and also can be used as an example of determination. This is an awful, awful, awful book. It was beyond boring and I could barely read it. No summary is necessary; the title tells you what you need to know. Sadly, it is on the Battle of the Books competition list (which is why I read it) and I really don't think my students will be able to make it through it. From cover: Nothing is going right. Orville dand Wilber are almost ready to quit--almost ready to give up their lifelong dream of flying a powered machine. First the wind is too strong for their glider. Then theyrun out of money for more equipment. And now they are attacked by an army of mosquitoes? "Someday men will fly," Wilbur says, discouraged. "But it won't be in our lifetime." They don't give up. And on December 17th, 1903, on the sands of Kitty Hawk, the Wright Brothers make history! sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
