Dead of Night is a Sloane Monroe Mystery novella, generously sent to me by the author. I thought I had read the entire series to-date until this just popped into my email box. So, I read it immediately. I then purchased Flirting With Danger to read and review.

June Bancroft is found murdered and her daughter-in-law Wren becomes the prime suspect. Police chief Cade suddenly finds himself at odds with girlfriend Sloane, a PI hired by Wren's husband to try and prove her innocence. Although short, Dead of Night is well-written with the perfect amount of intrigue. Cheryl Bradshaw does an excellent job at throwing in a couple of sharp twists which kept me guessing right until the very end. ( )
