![]() Ainda não há conversas na Discussão sobre este livro. ![]() ![]() Concepts such as a child standing up for a parent versus a parent standing up to a child were poignantly explored and the difficulty of choosing between parents. The centerpiece of the book is what different parents give us. That being said, the narrative device of a near death experience was trite and did not actually add anything. All of the moving interactions with his mother truly happened in the flashbacks and could have been kept there without that aspect. The surprise twist at the end was anticlimactic, not to mention unnecessary and the culmination of Chick's relationship with his daughter felt added on in the end. Far from Albom's best work. We always think that we have more time, time to make ammends, time to make a change, etc. Sometimes we decide that we are out of time to do any of those things, so that is the change we will make. Memories are a powerful thing and can take us down a number of paths. This book made me rethink a few things in my own life. I do hope that if you decide to read it, your mind, too, will be opened. Mitch has a remarkable ability to touch, inspire and cause introspection with his stories. While Tuesdays with Morrie is my favorite the essence of this one hits home. Forgiving ourselves, making peace with where we are and above all else, being accountable for our decisions, we have the opportunity to live fully and impact the lives of others. Beautiful in its own right there is both sadness and joy with this book as with everyone Mitch writes. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica

In an inspirational debut novel by the author of Tuesdays with Morrie, Charles "Chick" Benetto, grieving over the death of his mother, uses alcohol as a crutch to deal with his loneliness, isolation, and depression and the disintegration of his life, until an encounter with his mother's ghost brings him new awareness and leads him to attempt to put his life back together.
