Her classmate Steven Green, however, really wants to be friends. Sophie rejects his overtures, but eventually her parents help her see that he is trying to be her friend, and his creative apology after accidentally tearing her picture in school wins her over. Together, Steven and Sophie plan with their teacher to give everyone a cup, some dirt, and a seed to grow their own plants. * Re-read March 2019 Sophie's Squash Go To School by Pat Zietlow Miller is a very creative story. I really enjoyed this book and I think it would be a great one to read aloud or together with younger children. This book shows children the importance of letting others in, and being kind to one another. It also shows children that sometimes it takes a little while to make new friends, especially if it is scary for you and that is okay. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica

On her very first day of school, Sophie is reluctant to make friends with the other children, preferring to play with two squash she grew in her garden--but when a particularly persistent boy named Steven gives her a packet of seeds as an apology for accidentally ripping her picture, she realizes that it just takes time to grow a friend.
