"Half-Fae, half-human Bryce Quinlan loves her life. By day, she works for an antiquities dealer, selling barely legal magical artifacts, and by night, she parties with her friends, savoring every pleasure Lunathion-otherwise known as Crescent City-has to offer. But it all comes crumbling down when a ruthless murder shakes the very foundations of the city-and Bryce's world. Two years later, her job has become a dead end, and she now seeks only blissful oblivion in the city's most notorious nightclubs. But when the murderer attacks again, Bryce finds herself dragged into the investigation and paired with an infamous Fallen angel whose own brutal past haunts his every step. Hunt Athalar, personal assassin for the Archangels, wants nothing to do with Bryce Quinlan, despite being ordered to protect her. She stands for everything he once rebelled against and seems more interested in partying than solving the murder, no matter how close to home it might hit. But Hunt soon realizes there's far more to Bryce than meets the eye-and that he's going to have to find a way to work with her if they want to solve this case. As Bryce and Hunt race to untangle the mystery, they have no way of knowing the threads they tug ripple through the underbelly of the city, across warring continents, and down to the darkest levels of Hel, where things that have been sleeping for millennia are beginning to stir.."--… (mais)

Blog Review: https://trishadoeseverythingbutstudy2.wordpress.com/2020/12/24/my-august-in-book...

I'm finally writing a review!!!!
I have drafted this one in my head so many times in the past couple of days, that I really hope I'll do this book justice, and write everything I wanted to!!I LOVED IT SO MUCH I CRIED THREE TIMES!!!
And there was so much to love....this book was pretty long, but I don't think the story could have been otherwise complete, or been told this completely without that length, and I just loved it. Now, into spoiler territory, HOW COULD YOU KILL LEHABAH SARAH J. MAAS?!?!?!?!?!?!? HOW DARE YOU!??!?!?!? I cried so much when she died, and I thought maybe this was the only scene that would make me cry in this entire book, I was so hopeful that the book would go on nicely after that, but I was so wrong??!?!!! HOW COULD YOU!??!?!
That scene when she said her goodbyes was so heartbreaking, I can't *starts crying again* .....And when we found out Bryce was Starborn?!?!?! That was such a goosebump inducing scene, that I was sure nothing better could ever happen in the book after that.
And Danika?!?!??! And Connor!??!?!?!? And the rest of the pack!?!??!?!?!?*starts sobbing loudly* WHY!??!?!?!? I really liked her when she was alive, and I liked her even more after she died because their friendship was just so amazing?!!?!? And Bryce gave her place to Danika?!??!?! And they were just such good friends?!?!?!

I really loved the characters, especially Bryce and Hunt, they were so cute!! Especially because they had that snarky banter? I really loved their dynamic, their kinda hate-to-love progression, and just overall cuteness!! I had the overall feeling from this book that Hunt was going to be the love interest throughout the series, and I'm really hoping that hope will be fulfilled. That scene when Hunt was buying the Synth was just so unexpected, and I really didn't like it, but then it tied in so well with the rest of the story, that I forgave SJM. And then they cut off his wings!?!?!?!?!? That was just heartbreaking. The ending was written really nicely, and I felt this might be a standalone, but we all know what happened in the epilogue ;) I don't think i could ever write a review that does this book justice, what with the so many things that were amazing about this book. I really want to reread this one day, but I'll wait a few moths to make sure I really enjoy it! I really, really loved the book, and I can't wait to read the next one!! One of my favourite lines in the book:
Through love all is possible.

Later:
wait, what? This book was published ONLY THIS YEAR!??!?!?! How am I supposed to survive till the next book?!?!?!! ( )

I started crying at chapter 80 and never really stopped until I was done. ( )

This book is incredible. Obviously because it is the first book of the series there is a lot of world building to make sure there is understanding and context for the next books.. It is a bit lengthy although I feel as though it is needed. The two main characters have a beautiful dynamic that grows and flourishes. The ending broke me, I was practically drowning in my own tears. I would definitely recommend this to anyone! ( )

This book ripped me apart and then put me back together. I laughed and cried and often simultaneously. I was crying within the first few chapters!! Bryce is everything from confident and sassy but I love how throughout the book she starts to show her vulnerability. Hunt has officially set my expectations for men impossibly high which I guess could be good or bad???
if you haven't read this I beg that you do. ( )

I've been struggling to cope with the finishing of this book as it tore my heart open in 15 different ways.

This may easily be one of my favorite books of all time.

This isn't just your average fantasy novel with
✨Enemies to Lovers
✨Magical beings
✨Morally grey characters

This story touches on something that I think is often underrated in fantasy books and that is the power of friendship.
This is an overall story about love,
Familial love, passionate love, and the most heartbreaking and beautiful -platonic love.

It discusses the lengths friends will go to for one another out of love. A bond that was chosen and yet also, fated.

I'm literally crying thinking about this book anyways everyone go read it please. ( )
