This illustrated catalogue documents the art work of contemporary Inuvialuit sculptor, Abraham Anghik Ruben in the solo exhibition, Arctic Journeys/Ancient Memories: The Sculpture of Abraham Anghik Ruben, organized by the Smithsonian Institution’s Arctic Studies Center, National Museum of Natural History, and the National Museum of the American Indian with the assistance of Kipling Gallery, Ontario. The catalogue includes color reproductions of twenty-three sculptures in the exhibition exploring themes of Arctic prehistory from the mythology, migration, settlement and contact history of the artist’s Inuit/Inuvialuit ancestors in the Canadian Arctic and the Norse adventurers and settlers who established farming communities in Iceland and Greenland as well as transitory settlements in Newfoundland and the eastern Canadian Arctic. The catalogue includes a Preface by Kevin Gover, NMAI Direct∨ Foreword by William W.
