Loved it

What a great read! I loved knowing everything right from the start, no earth shattering surprises, just a fantastic story of love. ( )

Too Late

I Picked Up This Book Because:

The Characters: I’m not quite sure how I ended up on Wattpad but there I was and there was the story so…..

Sloan:
Carter/Luke:
Asa Jackson: It’s a shame that he is by all counts the villain in this story but he is also the only one who’s last name I remember
Dalton/Ryan, Jon

The Story:

I don’t even know where to begin on this one. This was so crazy and addicting. We have Asa, campus drug slinger, abused child, super smart, abusive boyfriend. Then we have Sloan, neglected child, defacto mother for disabled brother, stuck in a relationship so her brother can be taken care of. Enter Carter aka Luke, undercover officer sent in with his partner Dalton./Ryan to collect evidence against Asa, the yin to Sloan’s yang.

All I can tell you is read it. You won’t believe the things that happen. They will shock and aww you and then maybe make you cry. The drama is over the top and I like it that way.

The Random Thoughts:

3.75 Stars ( )

Wow. This book was just wow! Explosive and intense! I can barely form cohesive sentences when it comes to this story. Definitely a new shade of CoHo, a much darker shade. Each chapter is written from one of the three main characters' POV. Sloan, Carter and Asa.
Word of warning to sensitive readers, this is probably not a book for you. It is very graphic and mature with violence, drugs and sex. ( )

The story was narrated by 3 persons: Sloan, Asa, and Carter. It was a first-person narration. Even if there are three of them who speak in the story, it didn’t destroy the flow of the story. Instead, it helps with telling the readers of what the story is about and where it is going.

Most of the scene takes place in Asa’s house. The house is like a drug den, and it is where Asa’s make some of his transactions. The first kiss and the love scene between Sloan and Carter also happen there. And, of course, don’t forget where Carter’s cover was blown up.

“Worries flow from her lips like the random words that flow from her fingertips. I reach out and try to catch them, clenching them in my fists, wanting nothing more than to catch them all.” ― Colleen Hoover, Too Late

Colleen Hoover created this one that gives a lot of meaning to love. On Sloan’s part, love was about to sacrifice. Her love for her brother made her stay with Asa even if she doesn’t want to. Asa’s love was possessive and already hurtful for Sloan. He’ll do everything he can just to make sure that Sloan was all his. Then there’s Carter who has a genuine love for Sloan.

The genre of this literature was Romance. Comparing it to the other books that I’d read before, this one was darker and contain serious topics like drugs and sex.

“He unclenched his fists and dropped her worries, unable to catch them for her. But she picked them back up and dusted them off. She wants to be able to hold them herself now.” ― Colleen Hoover, Too Late

This novel was written by Colleen Hoover, one of the NYT bestselling authors. This story was the first one I have read that was written by her, and I’m looking forward to reading more of her works. I can’t discuss the difference of this story to her other novels because just like what I had said, this is my first time to read a book written by her. But, according to my friends who love her stories, this is just like November 9 but just a little bit darker and heavy compared to her other books.

The story was about Sloan, a college girl, which has been trapped in a relationship with Asa, an abusive boyfriend, and at the same time, a drug dealer. She wants to go out of that situation but unfortunately, she can’t because Asa is the only one who can help her as of the moment. He was the one who took her in his house when she has nowhere to go to, and he is the one who is supporting her brother’s care who is mentally disabled. When she met Carter, her classmate, and seatmate in her Spanish class, she can’t deny that she felt attracted to him, and Carter felt the same way too towards her. What they don’t know, it is just the start of everything. Asa’s love for Sloan will make it hard for all of them. Sloan and Carter will go through Asa’s first before they can be with each other.

“and that’s where love finds you… in the tragedies.” ― Colleen Hoover, Too Late

I liked this story even though I’m not into books that have an abusive scene. I like how Asa was portrayed. Asa is the possessive badass boyfriend to Sloan, who thinks that Sloan couldn’t live without him. Colleen did very well to make him look hateful in the story, but you’ll also love him because of how great his love for Sloan. But everything too much is not good. That’s why even if he loves Sloan so much, he wasn’t aware that he was already hurting her. That leads her from turning away from him and realizing that the love she has for Asa is not even real.

I sort of dislike the story too because Sloan was described to be tough but what I saw was there was no any development from her, only on the last part where she finally said what she wants to happen to Asa and their relationship. Carter too didn’t have any development from the start until the very end. The way I meet his character it was just the same until the end. What I mean is that I don’t know much about him, unlike Asa. I know the reason why he acts like that and why he was like that to Sloan.

“You don’t love him. You’re still here – not because you’re too weak to leave – but because you’re too strong to leave. You put up with this shit because you know it’s not about you. It’s not about your own safety. You do it for your brother. Everything you do, you do for other people. Not many people have that kind of courage and strength, Sloan. It’s fucking inspiring.” – Colleen Hoover, Too Late

The story was good, but the ending was a little bit incomplete. I felt like there was something more missing. I think that’s because I wasn’t able to know the characters more, and only Asa was the one I fully understand the story. The character development between Sloan and Carter was a little bit not that good. It was like how we meet them from the start was just the same as how they are until the very end.

I encourage those who love something dark to try reading this one. But, I am not allowing younger people to read this because it contains topics and scenes not appropriate for their age.

Thankfully, you can read this on Wattpad. Yes, that means that this story is free, and no payment is needed to be able to read this. But, of course, except that this one is only an e-book and there’ll be no physical book unless Miss Colleen decided to publish this story. The author decided to publish this book, and it’s no more available on Wattpad. ( )

I'm sure this is the only Colleen Hoover book that's i will love this much , because i'm really starting to get sick of the sappy romantic fairy-tales , nothing against her though i love her ! i just don't enjoy love stories anymore .

This is why i didn't like Luke at all .. at all . i found him irritating and annoying , plain stupid and very unprofessional (obviously) .

and no , i didn't like his relationship with Sloan either , nor found it cute or beautiful .. to be honest i wasn't very fond of her character at all , i found her to be boring , and in some scenes i just wanted to shake her until she wakes the hell up .

i think i might have liked John more than them and found him more interesting!

now Asa .. Asa Jackson , i freaking LOVED him , i ADORED his character and how twisted he is , that might be due to the fact i love villains in books , but there is something about him that drew me so much , i wished the book was written only from his perspective , he made things THAT more interesting

perhaps the only reason i kept on reading was because of him , i wanted to know what's going to happen next , i really fell in love with his twisted tortured character , it's a bit lame that i always fall for these kind of characters but i can't help it!

this is my review so obviously i'm going to be subjective , i wish there is a book only about him and his life , a twisted part of me wished Sloan would choose him ( yes yes i know it's wrong and would never happen! don't kill me... i'm a bit messed up , but hey it's a story!)

i loved the snippets we were shown from his childhood , i loved his crazy moments , and his plans.

so , yes . i would recommend this book , even if it's only because of Asa , he's a character that shouldn't be missed . and that's why i love Colleen . because she is such a marvelous writer that she is able to creat something like him ! ( )
