Pormenores da obraO Labirinto dos Espíritos por Carlos Ruiz Zafón (2016)
![]() Ainda não há conversas na Discussão sobre este livro. Elche - Abril 2017 Both a marvel and a labyrinth of a book! I found myself amazed by the beauty of the writing. But I was also confused at some points in the novel. The Labyrinth of the Spirits continues the story line from first 3 novels in the series. Zafon adds more layers of complexity with new characters who were friends or associates of the characters previously introduced and already known to readers. This provides more perspective of the characters we've come to know. But it also allows Zafon to manipulate us into accepting modifications he makes to the original story line. Especially true of David Martin who believed he had worked for an evil publisher, Corelli, who used him. New characters in the Labyrinth of the Spirits suggest that this and other claims Martin made revealed his mental deterioration. And with this maneuver Zafon writes out Christina, as though she never existed! This was one of the times I found myself confused. Fermin is one of the best characters in the series, (funny, brilliant, annoying, loyal and loving) but he is another point of confusion for me. Who is he? His life seems to span more time than is humanely possible. And I don't quite understand why Fumero was always chasing after Fermin. While all the books in the series show Spain's dark side this last one may be the darkest. So much fear, suffering and corruption, greed and violence in all forms. There are a few innocent, decent, and honorable characters but I don't know if its enough to completely balance out the evil inherent in the book. I strongly recommend reading the series but it may be prudent to create a guide to the many characters from the start. My favorite read of 2018! This novel is brilliant. Ruiz Zafòn is a genius, and I adore this novel more than all the others that this novel is connected to. Beautifully written, Ruiz Zafòn outdoes himself with the end of this series. Warning, the ending is so sad and bitter sweet, I teared up a little. It’s not just a revisit however for there is more of Zafon’s magic in the Gothic city of Barcelona. Meeting Zafon’s latest creation, Alicia Gris, was a memorable moment. She has to be one of the most extraordinary characters ever to be captured on the pages of a novel. And an epic novel at that. It’s going to be difficult to find a book to follow this one, but I will try. I was spellbound reading this, and very excited to return to the Cemetery of Books, back with old friends and the meeting new ones. The streets of Barcelona are the perfect setting for the maze of secrets and puzzles contained within the plot. Daniel Weyman is the narrator for this audiobook, and he was superb. His Spanish pronunciations were spot on. The style is literary and witty and makes the experience well worthwhile, resulting in a wonderful novel, and it’s highly recommended. 5 stars. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica

"The internationally acclaimed, New York Times bestselling author returns to the magnificent universe he constructed in his bestselling novels The Shadow of the Wind, The Angel's Game, and The Prisoner of Heaven in this riveting series finale--a heart-pounding thriller and nail-biting work of suspense which introduces a sexy, seductive new heroine whose investigation shines a light on the dark history of Franco's Spain. In this unforgettable final volume of Ruiz Zafón's cycle of novels set in the universe of the Cemetery of Forgotten Books, beautiful and enigmatic Alicia Gris, with the help of the Sempere family, uncovers one of the most shocking conspiracies in all Spanish history. Nine-year-old Alicia lost her parents during the Spanish Civil War when the Nacionales (the fascists) savagely bombed Barcelona in 1938. Twenty years later, she still carries the emotional and physical scars of that violent and terrifying time. Weary of her work as an investigator for Spain's secret police in Madrid, a job she has held for more than a decade, the twenty-nine-year old plans to move on. At the insistence of her boss, Leandro Montalvo, she remains to solve one last case: the mysterious disappearance of Spain's Minister of Culture, Mauricio Valls. With her partner, the intimidating policeman Juan Manuel Vargas, Alicia discovers a possible clue--a rare book by the author Victor Mataix hidden in Valls' office in his Madrid mansion. Valls was the director of the notorious Montjuic Prison in Barcelona during World War II where several writers were imprisoned, including David Martín and Victor Mataix. Traveling to Barcelona on the trail of these writers, Alicia and Vargas meet with several booksellers, including Juan Sempere, who knew her parents. As Alicia and Vargas come closer to finding Valls, they uncover a tangled web of kidnappings and murders tied to the Franco regime, whose corruption is more widespread and horrifying than anyone imagined. Alicia's courageous and uncompromising search for the truth puts her life in peril. Only with the help of a circle of devoted friends will she emerge from the dark labyrinths of Barcelona and its history into the light of the future. In this haunting new novel, Carlos Ruiz Zafón proves yet again that he is a masterful storyteller and pays homage to the world of books, to his ingenious creation of the Cemetery of Forgotten, and to that magical bridge between literature and our lives."--Provided by publisher.
