I love the Lola series from Anna McQuinn. Lola is a great model for kids for how to inquire into their interests and take care of animals, plants, and even humans! Lola Gets a Cat is all about Lola wanting a cat, learning about cats- including how to take care of them. This book teaches the importance of caring for others and responsiblity. Plus, it's about cats! ( )

This book is about a young girl named Lola and how she wants to get a cat. She begs her mom, who finally agrees. They do plenty of research and get all the supplies ready. When they take the cat home, Lola is in charge of giving the cat food and water. I liked this book because it shares a great message about responsibility, and I also love that there is a Spanish version of the book too. ( )

I like this book because it can easily relate to any student. At one point or another, it is common for children to ask their parents for a pet. In this story, the main character, Lola proves she is ready to take care of a cat. The theme for me is determination. ( )
