Sergeant Joe's Boys are back! Bestselling author Alexis Morgan delivers a tender and inspiring novel about Mikhail, a battle-scarred firefighter, and the sensitive young woman who slips inside the walls around his heart. As a child, Mikhail Wanjek couldn't save his drug-addled mother; as a young man, he left a promising military career because he couldn't defend the innocent victims of war. When Mikhail's feeling like a failure, not even the love of his adoptive parents and loyal brothers can console him. But after he volunteers to help his beautiful brunette neighbor install a fence around her yard, Mikhail begins to heal. He wants to shield her pure, unabashed lust for life from the darkness--including his own. Successful heart surgery has allowed Amy Short to finally set out on her own, apart from her loving but overprotective family. Now she's experiencing new thrills with the chiseled fireman next door, from riding on the back of Mikhail's Harley to late nights full of passion. Still, he refuses to open up emotionally, and with Amy's history, she's not willing to wait around for Mikhail to change. What she needs to do is show him that together they can build something that will last forever. Look for all of Alexis Morgan's heartfelt Sergeant Joe's Boys romances: ALWAYS FOR YOU: JACK | ALWAYS BE TRUE: TINO | LOVE, ALWAYS AND FOREVER Praise for Love, Always and Forever "This is a real romance reader's romance with a lovely slow burn at its heart."--Publishers Weekly "Love, Always and Forever is an engrossing tale of love and healing that will keep you up late into the night. Alexis Morgan doesn't just write fabulous stories. She writes keepers."--Gerri Russell, bestselling author of Flirting with Felicity "Alexis Morgan has a talent for creating characters with depth and heart, who compel the reader to care about them and follow them on their journey to love. That's certainly the case with Amy and Mikhail, two scarred, caring people who are struggling to move forward and find the happiness and love they deserve."--Award-winning author Susan Fox "Readers are going to dream about having Mikhail Wanjek for a neighbor. I know I did!"--Wendy S. Marcus, award-winning author of All I Need Is You "This is a great story. The chemistry and dialogue between the characters, including a lot of the secondary characters we've met in previous books, are fabulous. Hands down this is the best book in the series so far."--The Good, The Bad and The Unread "A very cute story."--Romancing Myself "I can't say enough about this great series. Read it!"--Romancing the Readers "Morgan is a talented writer who, with a slight turn of the phrase, is capable of showing the intensity of love involved in various relationships."--Romance.io "I absolutely loved Tino's story! . . . Each book of the Sergeant Joe's Boys series is about a different brother and can be read as a stand-alone. Although, I do recommend reading them in order. As to not give anything away. The writing is great and the story flowed well."--Once Upon An Alpha Includes an excerpt from another Loveswept title.… (mais)

This is the third book in Morgan’s series, Sergeant Joe’s Boys. Each of the boys had a hard life and were in the foster system. Joe and his wife Marlene adopts them as teenagers and raises them to become the good men they are. Each served time in the Military, following in Joe's footsteps. Joe has died and they have all returned home at various times to be closer to the "mom" they love. I enjoyed this series, even though there was a little to much sex for my liking. This is Mikhail's story (Misha), the youngest of the three boys.

Mikhail has recently retired from the Marines and is now working as a fireman. He has his some PTSD from his time in the military, but he is coping for the most part. He does have times where he needs to be alone with his anger and his memories. He has bought a house to begin his new life and seems to be existing, but not much more than that. Then he meets his very attractive new neighbour, Amy Short. The two soon become good friends, working together on a fence and their gardens. Amy is on her own for the first time and she is eager to try new experiences such as learning to ride a motorcycle and adopting a puppy. And Mikhail is more and more attracted to Amy but is worried about taking their relationship any further due to his demons. It’s hinted throughout the book that Amy has moved away from home to escape the smothering love of her family who are extremely protective of her because of a past unspecified health problem. We also learn that Mikhail carries a load of guilt for not being able to save his drug-addicted mother when he was young and then not to be able to save civilians in Afghanistan or the victims of the fires he is fighting.

As the story progresses, you know how this is going to end, it is a romance novel after all, but the journey is nice. You see how both Mikhail and Amy realize they have fences to mend with others and themselves. I enjoy this family put together by love. Mikhail, his brothers and nephew tease each other incessantly and the love they have shows. The way they treat each other when the bad creeps in, the anger and temper that seems to come with PTSD, shows their respect and care. His brothers understand because they went through similar difficulties transitioning back to civilian life, but hold off giving advice except to suggest he find someone he can talk to. The relationship between Mikhail and his adopted mother, Marlene, is one that I think everyone would love to have with their own mother. She is loving, but knows when to advise and when to back off.

This is a nice romantic series and this book ties it up nicely. I recommend this to those who like romance without a lot of erotica. There is some sex, but it is only a couple of incidents so should not turn those off that do not like sex in a book. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley. ( )

I received an ARC for an honest review for netgalley. It was a touching story. Liked that they got to become friends first and developed feelings for each other before becoming intimate. It had its tragic pasts, and truly touched the heart. Poor Misha, suffered from PTSD and the memories of his mothers suicide, and then you have poor Abby she never had a normal life. The poor girl gre up sheltered, dealing with overbearing brothers, parents, and health issues, and was just starting to live her life. Of course they fall in love but are scared and don't know how to deal with it, but it does it work out, and you as a reader, sit on side lines rooting for for them. ( )

What a fantastic book! Mikhail & Amy are next door neighbors. From the moment they met, it was apparent there were sparks. Amy wasn't ready for a relationship & just wanted to be friends while Mikhail was willing to take whatever he could get. Amy & Mikhail take us on a journey as they both try to recover from their past & find a way to each other.

Ms. Morgan developed two flawed characters that seem like opposites. When you really start to dig into them, you find they are more alike than you think. The characters are all well developed. The interactions between Mikhail & his adopted brothers and Amy & her brothers are funny, sad, explosive & similar in tone & sentiment. I wish the book had gone more in depth about PTSD, survivors guilt & seeking treatment but it did show a fairly realistic look at life with it. This was an enjoyable HEA. ( )
