This book tells the story of four friends who have been through a lot in their friendships- weddings, pregnancies, motherhood and marriage issues. These friends are planning on getting together for a day of flea market shopping but also to encourage one of them to do what she needs to do to make some significant changes in her life. When that day drops a bomb in Peyton's life, when follows is her journey through all the changes that resulted from that bomb.

Through this journey, Peyton finds the To-Hell-and-Back Club where the members support each other and help out when help is needed. through this group, Peyton is able to get her life back together and make some very hard decisions and she also learns some surprising secrets of her friends.

This is heartwarming story of life, love and friendship. ( )

“If. A small word with so much weight. And heavy consequences.” (Ch 28)
When a normal day full of tradition turns tragic, Peyton’s entire world is flipped upside down. She is suddenly forced to examine everything about her life, her marriage, her kids, her friendships- even a secret or two from the past. Thankfully she doesn’t have to go it alone. In the face of such despair, Peyton finds a group of women who not only understand her struggles, but have been through their own personal hell. The To Hell and Back Club is about courage in the face of tragedy- it’s about love and loss, it’s about finding strength in each and every day- especially on our most difficult days and persevering. It’s about learning that the journey and the destination are more important than the path we choose to get there. Jill Hannah Anderson is a truly talented writer who goes for the real- real struggles, real emotions, real LIFE and tackles those tough matters of the heart with grace and forgiveness and friendship. I so loved these characters and felt such a connection following Peyton’s journey back to living her best life.
“Asking for help is the bravest thing you can do. Suffering in silence is self-destructive.” (Ch 5) ( )

Thank you to the author for this book.

What a good book about friends, and the Hell and Back Club that Peyton joined after an accident that killed her best friends for 20 years. Everyone can use a club like that where no one judged each other and had good times and she did.

She had a lot of issues in her life thanks to her no good husband. She had 2 great kids though. Opening the time capsules that she and her friends buried was an eye opener for Peyton and she learned more things about them that she never knew since they were all secretive notes. ( )

This book held my attention from the beginning. Characters that felt true, story with depth.

While this book is based on bad things happening to good people, hence "to hell and back", it is overall inspirational and makes us wish we had a club like this to belong to. This group of women all know what pain is, and yet they know how to laugh and how to ease each other's pain without dwelling on it. Some things aren't what they seem, and when secrets come out, hurtful situations become more hurtful.

These women have been through pain, and they hold each other up through tough times.

I'm glad I read this, and you will be too. It's a good read. ( )

Peyton is just existing in a marriage that's falling apart and is making plans to divorce her husband now that their children are both in college. She relies on her three best friends to help give her advice on how to confront her issues until one fateful day when her friends are killed in a car accident. Peyton is overwhelmed with grief and unable to function. She goes to a minister for grief counseling who refers her to a local women's group called the to hell and back club. The main purpose of this club is to mentor other women in a non-judgmental way who have been through hell and have managed to start living again just like all of the members of the club.

This is a very affirming story about the value of friendship and how crucial friends are in overcoming life's tragedies. I am pleased to see that the author is writing a new book featuring another member of the club.

Thanks to the author for a copy of this book for review. All opinions are my own. ( )
