"Hilariously funny and oh so sexy, Dating-ish is the BOMB. Penny Reid, you're the Queen of Smart Rom-Com...yes, I just gave you a title." -Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author, Ilsa Madden-Mills

There are three things you need to know about Marie Harris: 1) She's fed up with online dating, 2) She's so fed up, she's willing to forego the annoyance and consider more creative alternatives, and 3) She knows how to knit.

After the most bizarre and irritating first date in the history of humankind, Marie is looking for an alternative to men. With the help of her friends, she quickly identifies a few possibilities:

Need a cuddle? Use a professional cuddler. Need affirmation? Get yourself a life coach. Need an orgasm? Try orgasm meditation! Why does she need the hassle of a romantic partner when she can meet all her needs with paid services?

But then her irritating date resurfaces. And he's not at all the person she thought he was. And he suggests a differentâ??and crazierâ??solution to her dilemma . . .

As everyone knows (or will soon come to realize), traditional relations between humans are a thing of the past. Robots are our future. And if robots are our future, then why do we need other people at all?

Another wonderful book in this hilarious and insightful series by [a:Penny Reid|5997227|Penny Reid|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1364344858p2/5997227.jpg]. ( )

Enjoyed this outing. It wasn't quite as amusing as [b:Love Hacked|20982872|Love Hacked (Knitting in the City, #3)|Penny Reid|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1393966301s/20982872.jpg|26616863] but I liked it. The story was interesting and different and I learned some things. I enjoyed the grumpy hero and I liked watching him try to deal with being friend zoned as he thought. A little bit of humor and a little bit of angst. Penny Reid is pretty consistently good. ( )

Penny Reid romances are always a treat. In Dating-ish, it’s finally Marie’s turn at love. Matthew, who we remember from Fiona’s book as the neighbor across the hall with a bit too much love for her coconut cream pie, shows up on a blind date with Marie, pretending to be someone else. Worse, he’s really conducting a study on dating and Marie was just a test subject. Needless to say, she’s not particularly take with him at first. But these two slowly grow on you, and while Marie doesn’t have too many demons, Matthew has a slew of them, and watching Marie slowly work her way down to the core of why he’s so afraid to get close is heartbreaking and deliciously fun. This one was delightful.

Please excuse typos/name misspellings. Entered on screen reader.

Probably my favorite from the series after Janie and Quinn's story, or maybe even as much as Janie and Quinn's. I think I liked it best because it was the most down to earth--no secret billionaires or former CIA spies, no one being held at gunpoint or kidnapped and held hostage. It just focused on Marie and Matt and unlike the other books there was no major crisis at the end where all the knitters (improbably) came together to save the day. It was just a simple romance where two people were plagued by miscommunication and misunderstanding. It was a little frustrating toward the end--there were a few scenes where it seemed like things should have been resolved (the hotel in New York or the car ride after the hospital) where the conversation should have naturally had them asking each other more straightforwardly what the other wanted--but then the dinner/club scene wouldn't have happened. I must say as we continue to go through the years of COVID-19, it is a joy to read a story that is light, romantic without overkill, contemporary, and laugh out loud funny. The whole knitting serious was most enjoyable. By the way, I listened to them all on audio and the narrators were excellent. ( )
