The colorful illustrations show a young baby opening up a gift they were given, while their cat observes what is going on. The baby is much more interested in the tissue paper than in the gift inside the box. The baby crinkles it, wrinkles it, listens to the sounds it makes, plays with it, and tears the paper. Personal Reaction: This is another book from our vast personal collection that I have read to both my girls as they were growing up. We all loved it. I still know it by heart. I love the rhyming of the words, the colorful, bright illustrations, and the cat observing the baby tearing through the tissue paper. I think that this book struck a chord with me because both of my girls use to LOVE to rip apart wrapping paper and tissue paper, just as the baby in the book likes too. Classroom Extension: This would be for a younger classroom setting, such as a church daycare or a normal day care. I would focus on textures. Textures of tissue paper, the sounds it makes, and textures of soft things like teddy bears and furry things like the cat. I would also do a supervised craft of tearing tissue papers and gluing it to construction paper to make art collage of some type. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
