My second Lorna Landvik, and one that I easily demolished in a morning. A few near-tear moments near the end, this is a story of two sisters, and there lives and loves in the 50s and 60s (and a little later) in Mid-America

Sisters Patty Jane and Harriet rely on each other throughout their lives. They have to, as they survive horrible parenting and short-lived happiness with men, eventually finding independence by opening a salon. On cold Minnesota days, three generations of women gather to work in the salon, while nights see the space turned into an informal school where locals can show off their expertise.
It's deeper than the title would imply, seeing the sisters through decades. (

I read this after reading Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons and could see too much similarity between the plots, so I was kind of disappointed. However, if I had read this one first, I may have enjoyed it more. (

My second book written by Lorna Landvik. My first read was Angry housewives which i loved. She is a great author. What I like is the friendships between women in her books. (
