This is a fantastic children's book. I love the story and the illustrations. This really makes me want to adopt a pet. That is what I did when I got my last cat. This made me laugh and cry. I think that little children and parents will fall in love with this story. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will. ( )

Maverick and Me made me think of my own children and actually several times where we were in the same position, and ended up with a new member of our family.
The author introduces us to the rescuer and the store that opens it heart for a place where rescued animals can find forever homes. All are needed in the in the process to help find a new forever home.
There are so many dogs in need, and this story will tug at your heartstrings, but with such a happy ending. Just be aware that there is a need, and this shares with the young ones, a sweet story along with delightful, colorful illustration.
