"In the new novel from the bestselling author of Final Girls, The Last Time I Lied follows a young woman as she returns to her childhood summer camp to uncover the truth about a tragedy that happened there fifteen years ago. Two Truths and a Lie. The girls played it all the time in their tiny cabin at Camp Nightingale. Vivian, Natalie, Allison, and first-time camper Emma Davis, the youngest of the group. The games ended when Emma sleepily watched the others sneak out of the cabin in the dead of night. The last she--or anyone--saw of them was Vivian closing the cabin door behind her, hushing Emma with a finger pressed to her lips. Now a rising star in the New York art scene, Emma turns her past into paintings--massive canvases filled with dark leaves and gnarled branches that cover ghostly shapes in white dresses. The paintings catch the attention of Francesca Harris-White, the socialite and wealthy owner of Camp Nightingale. When Francesca implores her to return to the newly reopened camp as a painting instructor, Emma sees an opportunity to try to find out what really happened to her friends. Yet it's immediately clear that all is not right at Camp Nightingale. Already haunted by memories from fifteen years ago, Emma discovers a security camera pointed directly at her cabin, mounting mistrust from Francesca and, most disturbing of all, cryptic clues Vivian left behind about the camp's twisted origins. As she digs deeper, Emma finds herself sorting through lies from the past while facing threats from both man and nature in the present. And the closer she gets to the truth about Camp Nightingale, the more she realizes it may come at a deadly price"--… (mais)

Two truths and a lie.
1. This book is one of the best I've read this year.
2. Riley Sager has become an author I will "autobuy" from now on.
3. I hate talking about books.

This was a great thriller. I liked the pace, plot, and characters a lot.

Emma is an artist who always paints 3 ghostly girls but then paints over their faces. Fifteen years after the summer camp she had attended, Camp Nightingale, closed she returns. It closed because Emma's three cabinmates disappeared from camp one night and were never found. Franny, the camp owner, decides to open it back up and invites Emma back. Emma is put back in the same cabin with 3 new girls and sets out to find out what happened to the other girls fifteen years earlier. ( )

A very refreshing, well-written, and modern feeling thriller! I think the pacing was a tad on the slow side and lagged about 3/4 in, but all in all I really enjoyed reading this. I felt like Sager did a good job balancing all the clues and puzzles, making it possible for the reader to work on solving the mystery but including a few surprises along the way. I definitely look forwards to reading more of Sagers work! ( )

Thrilling read! This was my first Riley Sager book, and now I need to add all his books to my TBR. The plot twists continued right up until the last page. ( )

I read this book in two days and loved every minute of it. What do you get when you cross a creepy cabin in the woods with drama worthy of Pretty Little Liars? Meet one of the most deliciously entertaining “popcorn reads” of the summer: THE LAST TIME I LIED by Riley Sager. I loved the parallels to the past and the present. If you want to know if this is like his first book in my opinion no. This is a lighter book but it's own kind of creepy. I can't wait to see what's next. ( )
