She went missing. He moved on. A whole world of secrets remained, until now. Finn and Layla are young, in love, and on vacation. They're driving along the highway when Finn decides to stop at a service station to use the restroom. He hops out of the car, locks the doors behind him, and goes inside. When he returns Layla is gone, never to be seen again. That is the story Finn told to the police. But it is not the whole story. Ten years later Finn is engaged to Layla's sister, Ellen. Their shared grief over what happened to Layla drew them close and now they intend to remain together. Still, there's something about Ellen that Finn has never fully understood. His heart wants to believe that she is the one for him, even though a sixth sense tells him not to trust her. Then, not long before he and Ellen are to be married, Finn gets a phone call. Someone from his past has seen Layla, hiding in plain sight. There are other odd occurrences: Long-lost items from Layla's past that keep turning up around Finn and Ellen's house. Emails from strangers who seem to know too much. Secret messages, clues, warnings. If Layla is alive, and on Finn's trail, what does she want? And how much does she know? A tour de force of psychological suspense, Bring Me Back will have you questioning everything and everyone until its stunning climax.… (mais)

I woman who disappeared 12 years ago seems to be leaving hints about her existence. Very troubling for the boyfriend at the time of her disappearance, who happens to be engaged to the sister. ( )

Wow. What a huge let-down the ending of this book was. I vacillated between 2 and 3 stars for a bit before landing on 3. Up until chapter 55 or so, I was all in. Was the book perfect before that, no, not really. But it was a lot of fun and I really wasn't 100% sure what was going on. Chapter 55 kicked off and I knew what was happening but still had some questions about how, exactly, some of the things were known by one of the characters.

(Yes, I'm being intentionally vague because I don't want to give any spoilers at all.)

Chapter 56 and on were one big downward spiral of "what the hell?!" culminating in the mother of all book killers - the letter that ties up every single thing that happened during the book that we weren't privy to. What a cheap and easy way out. So incredibly disappointing.

Also, did I get the timeline wrong? Wasn't it TWELVE years from Layla's disappearance to events in the current time? The explanatory letter makes it seems like months, maybe a year but in no way a dozen of them.

What I'll say is this, B A. Paris, I still love your writing style and voice and I'll absolutely read your next book but, please, don't ever do that again. And if you haven't read any of the author's work yet, don't start with this one. Read her [b:Behind Closed Doors|29437949|Behind Closed Doors|B.A. Paris|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1458854462s/29437949.jpg|45981530] or [b:The Breakdown|31450633|The Breakdown|B.A. Paris|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1492234495s/31450633.jpg|49326982], both of which had plenty of twists and turns and will likely keep you entertained all the way through.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this one. ( )

Better than the author's last book but still kind of boring and predictable. While I didn't 100% guess what was going on, I had a pretty good idea fairly early on. None of the characters were likeable which is fine but combined with a fairly lackluster story and I was bored. Hope to see some return to the excitement that was her debut.

*I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher (thank you!) in exchange for an honest review. ( )

I definitely did not see the ending coming! When I thought I had figured out the ending, BA Paris did what she does best and went a completely unexpected route than anticipated! Only reason I gave this book a 4 star rating instead of 5, was because once I found out the truth I found it to be a little unbelievable despite all the rest of the story being very believable. 9/10 would recommend this book to thriller and suspense lovers! 3* I'm not sure how many more B.A. Paris books I can take. I enjoyed her first one (Behind Closed Doors) and wanted to like her second one (The Break Down). She just doesn't quite know how to write suspense. Or at least not in a way that makes me feel suspense. She writes for chapters about the same events occurring and the same thoughts continue to run through the characters heads for chapters at a time with nothing of note happening to help the suspense build. I've been left feeling this same way after both The Break Down and now this one, Bring Me Back. I pretty much called the twist as well so was left feeling pretty underwhelmed by it. The ending was a pretty big disappointment and literally said, "well that was dumb" upon my completion. I'll give her one more try and then might have to call it quits if she isn't able to get her suspense building together. ( )
