K-9 cop Carson Gage reluctantly attends his brother Bo’s bachelor party and ends up finding Bo murdered outside the bar where the party is taking place. Carson’s search for the prime suspect in the case leads him to the ranch of The Colton’s who have a long-standing feud with the Gages. He ends up butting heads with single mom, Serena Colton. While investigating on the ranch, a mystery assailant fires shots at Serena, and later a kidnapping attempt is made on her baby daughter. Carson becomes Serena’s protector and eventually much more.

This was a very enjoyable and fast-paced story with romance, suspense, feuding families, and a wonderful, brave dog named Justice. Bo Gage’s murder does not get solved here but will be a continuing storyline throughout the series. The romance does wrap up nicely and the kidnapping storyline gets resolved by the ending in this very entertaining read. ( )
