Angus is blackmailed into hunting down and bringing in Tasmin, an uncollared shifter. She's fast and special but Angus is still able to track her and capture her. Angus is a surly wolf but Tasmin's impish nature brings out the best in him. They end up on the run, joining a carnival and when her secret comes to light they have to figure out how to deal with it so there are no repercussions on shifters. Several walk on appearances from other characters. Nice read.

I love Jenn's Shifter novels. This is one of the best. I loved how Angus' blushing and modesty. And I want to be Tamsin when I grow-up, in spite of the fact she is 3 years younger than I am. ( )

I have only read one short story in this series previous to this book, so it is possible to read as a stand-alone and enjoy it. (However, I do tend to prefer to read an entire series from the beginning as the backstory usually makes it a more enriching read.)

This was a fairly quick read for me. I managed to read it at work between calls (I work in a call center for a bank) in one week. The characters, world and story are well-developed.

Tamsin and Angus are both complex characters with and entwined history which cause a lot of tension for them. Angus's cub is highly likable pup with a talent for sarcasm. With both the Shifter Bureau and the shifters after them the cards are stacked against Tamsin and Angus, which helps you end up rooting for them despite their initial circumstances.

I really liked the story, and hope to find time to read the rest of the series in the near future.

More Shifter surprises!

Just when you think you have a handle on all things Shifter, Fae and everything else in between, Ashley throws in another surprise.
Midnight Wolf has that and more. Angus Murray is the strong silent type whose backed into a corner when the Shifter Bureau seizes his cub in exchange for his tracking skills. His instructions are to find a rogue shifter and bring her back to them.
Of course everything is not as simple as it seems. Tasmin Calloway is more than Angus expects. We meet old friends and make new ones. Angus' son Ciaran is just wonderful, as is his interaction with Tamsin. That's of course not even going anywhere near the Sparks that fly between Tamsin and Angus!
