RTC The Lapps are an elderly Amish couple who think they've connected with the granddaughter they didn't know they had. The young woman though is an imposter escaping from a difficult life. Michelle begins to rest and become comfortable in a life she knew little about When she discovers a jar with prayers which make her start to think about God in ways she hadn't before Along the way we learn about the Amish way of life A gentle read and I look forward to the next part of the story This book was a fine story, but for some reason, I just didn't connect with the characters that well. I liked the concept of the story-line, with Michelle pretending to be the grand-daughter the Lapps didn't know they had. And I liked how not all the answers have been discovered in book one, so it makes you want to pick up and start book 2. Like who was the real Sara's father, and why did her mother run away and leave the Amish community. And who wrote the prayers in the "jar"? Will have to see if these questions are answered in book two, "The Forgiving Jar". Michelle Taylor, homeless and down on her luck, stumbles into Amish life hoping for a fresh start. How long can she pretend to be someone she’s not before her lies catch up to her? Sara Murray, lonely since her mother’s death, is hoping to connect with the Amish grandparents she never knew she had. Will her journey to Lancaster County provide the peace she’s looking for? Mistaken identity. Deception. Forgiveness. All this and more in The Hope Jar, the first book from Wanda Brunstetter’s new series The Prayer Jars. This story ended with a cliffhanger. Michelle’s and Sara’s stories will continue in the upcoming books, The Forgiving Jar (February 1, 2019) and The Healing Jar (August 1, 2019). I’m curious to see how it all wraps up! I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica

"What happens when making an elderly Amish couple very happy means going along with a lie that gets bigger by the day? Michelle Taylor is not who her new family in Lancaster County believes her to be. The Lapps were looking for their long-lost granddaughter when they met Michelle and she assumed the identity of Sara Murray. Once homeless and hopeless, Michelle has come to love her new Amish friends and even considers the idea of romance among them. Finding an old blue jar in the barn that is filled with slips of paper containing thoughts, quotes, and prayers by an unknown author becomes a boost to Michelle's budding faith-- but also convicting. How can she tell the truth without hurting the ones she has truly come to love?"-- Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |
