A rainstorm hits, and the school-aged protagonist is stuck inside! A mysterious key is found, and then they are on the search to find what it unlocks. At last! A big trunk unlocks, and out of it sticks a ladder. The ladder leads to a lighthouse, and an entire afternoon of play and adventure is had. Anything is possible when you decide to climb up, down, and all around your imagination. ( )

Rainstorm is a wordless picture book that is about a little boy that is home alone while it is raining. He decides to venture out through his house playing with his ball. While doing that he uncovers a key. Going through the house, he tries to unlock everything that has a keyhole. After several attempts he was able to unlock a trunk that had a ladder leading down into a pathway. He follows the pathway that leads him on top of a lighthouse where he discovers some friends. After spending quality time with his new friends, it filled in the void that he was missing in his life. Even though the boy is rich and has everything he wants. Friendship and quality time matters more to him. This teaches readers no matter how much you have, it would be for nothing without friends. I rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars ( )

I rated this book a 5/5 because it was a very easy read and filled with mystery and adventure. Even though the story is a wordless one the story was made very clear through its illustrations. The story is about a little boy who finds a key and travels to new places the key unlocks. The story can teach children to use their imagination and predict what comes next in a story. You could ask the students what they predict will happen once the little boy finds the key. You could also ask them where they think the key will take him. I would recommend this book for lower elementary students. ( )

I gave this book four out of five stars because I think it's a good way to have students play with their creativity and imagination. The story follows alongside a boy who finds a key and travels to new places the key unlocks. The book could be considered a mystery or adventurous book and could be used in various ways with young children. ( )

This was such a cute book! Despite being wordless, the author created a sense of mystery. With each new page, I could never predict what was going to happen, keeping me intrigued and hooked. For example, once the little boy found the key, I would have never guessed where it would have taken him. I also thought the illustrations themselves were very well done. I liked the panel style the author incorporated, giving the feel of a comic strip. I also think this book can be relatable for some children. Everyone has felt lonely at some point in their life, wishing they could be whisked away on an adventure where they meet new friends. There is an aspect to the book that I don't think is so relatable, however. The boy seemed to live in a very big house, wore fancy clothing, and sat down to dinner at a table with nice china. So, many children may not be able to relate to this socioeconomic status, and I think it's very important to see yourself in stories. Overall, I think this is a great book for exploring children's imaginations as well as practicing making predictions about what is going to happen next. ( )
