Harvest, Ohio, in Holmes County, is preparing for the Christmas market on the village square, and Swissmen's Sweets is busy preparing all things peppermint. They are suddenly invaded by Bailey's ex-boyfriend Eric and the crew from his television program. Bailey knows that permission must be secured not only from her Amish grandmother who owns the shop and from the bishop before she can accept any publicity opportunity as promising as this one. The next morning, Bailey notices something off with the gazebo lights on the square. When she investigates she discovers the producer's body. I'm not quite sure how I feel about this series from the Amish/Englisch perspective since the lead character is not Amish, but she would not be allowed to investigate if she were Amish, so I suppose it's the only way it is feasible. It’s Christmas in Holmes County, Ohio, and Bailey is hard at work in her grandmother’s candy shop preparing chocolates for the Amish Christmas Market. Her ex shows up from NYC with an entire tv crew, hoping to convince Bailey both to do a show with him and get back together. Meanwhile the town deputy and Bailey are still dancing around the idea of dating while said deputy’s pig-toting mother is spreading rumors round town that they’re already engaged. Oh, and there’s a murder. Because of course.

A solid entry in the series. I’m enjoying the Amish setting with a non-Amish main character, and I’m interested to see where things go in the next few volumes. ( )

I enjoy this series, but could definitely do with a lot less of Jethro. Cass was lots of fun and added lots of laughter. Eric was very annoying and I hope he's permanently out of the picture. Finally getting somewhere on the, up to now, non-romance with Hot Cop (love that nickname). ( )

Alot of fun in book three! Eric, Bailey's ex-boyfriend came to town with a TV crew before Christmas to tape Amish Christmas at Swissmen Sweets. As in any cozy mystery a body if found. This book is a joy to read. ( )

Premeditated Peppermint is the 3rd book in the Amish Candy Shop cozy series. Bailey King left New York City to return to her roots in Harvest, OH. She helps her grandmother run the family candy business, Swissmen Sweets. It's nearly the holiday season in this newest book and the shop is gearing up for the annual Harvest Christmas Market. Peppermint is the theme for the candy shop's table this year, so the shop is filled with all things chocolatey and minty. mmmmm :) Just as she is feeling her holiday spirit returning, Bailey is horrified when her ex-boyfriend, Eric Sharp shows up with a television crew in tow. While this would help boost business for Swissmen Sweets and all the businesses in Harvest, Bailey knows Eric and his entourage will cause a disturbance in the village. Unfortunately, it's a bit more than just a disturbance... The executive producer for the holiday special is found strangled to death with Christmas lights in the village square. Decking the halls with a dead producer is not a great way to start off the holiday season. Bailey finds herself investigating to find the killer before the holiday season is ruined.

I really enjoy just about anything Amanda Flower writes. I enjoy the characters in this series and the candy shop theme is just yummy (not to mention the great peppermint bark recipe included in the back of this newest book!). The mystery moves along at a nice pace. Strangling someone with Christmas lights was a nice sinister touch. The plot was entertaining and engaging. All in all, a nice addition to this series.

The next book, Toxic Toffee, will be coming soon! Yay!
